Redmond,
WA – On
September 29 and 30, the community is invited to celebrate 25 years of serving teens
at the Old Fire House Teen Center (OFH) in Redmond.
On September 29 at 6:00 p.m., the evening’s
activities will include speakers, displays, art, and music. Enjoy performances by “The Velvet
Mornings,” the local high school band and past greats like “Whitney Ballen” and
“Rocky Votolato.” On September
30, doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a walk through of the teen center past and
present. Enjoy a free concert at 7:00 p.m. incorporating
new and past music talent including local legends “LocoMotive,” “Kung Foo Grip” and more.
“The City’s teen programs offer an integral connection with our youth by
providing innovative opportunities to support academic success, encourage
lifelong learning and enrich teen lives,” said Mayor John Marchione. “Please
join us and celebrate this great milestone for Redmond.”
Twenty-six
years ago, the City of Redmond held a Youth Summit where teens shared a dream
for a place that they could call their own. They expressed a desire for a space
to share their talents, meet friends, and explore ideas. The OFH Teen Center
was born of this dream and today still nurtures young teens. The OFH Teen Center is one of the longest standing teen centers and
all-age music venues in Washington.
“The
Firehouse's contribution to the community and myself in developing local youth
is tremendous. The celebration of its anniversary should be equally spectacular,
and I am excited to be a part of it,” said Levi Casto, Redmond’s 2017 Derby
Do-Gooder and Redmond High School 2017 graduate.
