REDMOND, WA -
Redmond Fire Department and King
County Fire District 34 are partnering together to host several open houses at
local fire stations throughout Fire Prevention Week. Fire Prevention Week is a
national campaign whose theme is "Don’t Wait—Check the Date"— a reminder
to replace smoke alarms every ten years.
Open houses will offer fun,
educational and family-oriented activities, allowing residents to learn about
the importance of having a working smoke alarm in all sleeping areas by the
major living spaces of their home. The open houses also give families and
businesses the chance to meet their local firefighters and tour the station
that serves their homes and properties. Children of
all ages are invited to hang out with firefighters, meet Sparky the Fire Dog
and explore a fire engine and aid car. Light refreshments will be served.
