Redmond Parks Director Announces RetirementEffective Immediately Redmond, WA –Craig Larsen, Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts for the City of Redmond, today announced his retirement at the end of September 2015. “It’s been my great pleasure to be part of the City of Redmond team for the last ten years. We’ve accomplished a lot, and the department is ready for a transition to new leadership,” said Craig. Under his leadership, the city acquired four miles of BNSF railroad right-of-way and built the Redmond Central Connector. During his tenure, the city also purchased and designed the new Downtown Park, purchased and opened Smith Woods Park, rebuilt Grass Lawn Park and Spiritbrook Park, rehabilitated the Redmond Pool, advanced planning for a new Recreation Center, and significantly improved business operations in the department. “Craig is a creative and energetic leader who has made a tremendous contribution to the city”, said Mayor John Marchione. “His efforts have made the city a better place to live and I am grateful for his contribution.” Craig Larsen previously worked at King County for 24 years and at the City of Lynnwood for 4 years. Katie Anderson, Deputy Director of the Department, will be Acting Director of the department until a new director is chosen early next year. This press release is available on www.redmond.gov.
