 Comments invited on the Draft 27-29 Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration (PSAR) Large Capital Request for Proposals (RFP)
The PSAR program serves an important role in the collective work to restore salmon populations in Puget Sound.
Since 2007, the PSAR program has protected over 16,000 acres of critical habitat, restored over 14,000 acres of priority habitat, and opened over 150 river miles for fish to access. The small and large projects that led to these accomplishments happen because of the dedicated work from Tribes, communities and individuals across Puget Sound.
The Puget Sound Partnership invites the public to review and offer comments or suggestions on the Draft 2027-2029 PSAR Large Capital Projects Request for Proposals (RFP). You can share your comments through our online comment form or email them to: communications@psp.wa.gov.
Periodic updates to the RFP improve project sponsors’ experience and understanding of the application requirements and ensure that the projects move the Puget Sound region towards the program’s recovery goals. State laws such as the Healthy Environment for All Act and the Climate Commitment Act, as well as regional, Tribal, and Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council priorities are considered and proposed through the RFP revision process.
Our staff made minor edits and changes to the previous RFP to provide clearer direction and reduce the applicants’ administrative burden. We welcome review of the full RFP with the key changes highlighted in the overview document.
The next PSAR Large Capital Projects grant round will begin with the release of the RFP at the end of December 2025 and run through the end of May 2026 for possible funding from Washington State’s legislature in spring 2027. Regionally significant projects that protect and restore salmon habitat and have costs greater than $1M will be eligible to apply for funding.
Comments will be accepted August 1-30, 2025, and will be considered by Partnership staff, the Salmon Recovery Council, and the Leadership Council.
