The Puget Sound Partnership Science Panel will meet online on Wednesday, December 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Meeting highlights include:
- A presentation and discussion of Science Panel member research and work. Panel members will present a series of lightning talks to provide an overview of their research and the relevant work happening within their networks. Presentation by Science Panel members, Misty Peacock, executive director at the Salish Sea Research Center, and Eric Strecker, co-vice chair of the Science Panel.
- A presentation and discussion about the 2025-2009 Science Work Plan (SWP). Staff will provide an update on the final draft of the SWP for 2025-2009 and the request for approval letter that will be sent to the Leadership Council. Staff will also discuss next steps and how the SWP will inform the Puget Sound Scientific Research solicitation for the 2025-2027 biennium. Presentation by Katherine Wyatt, assistant science director at the Puget Sound Partnership and Scott Redman, Science and Evaluation program director at the Puget Sound Partnership.
- A presentation and discussion about the Puget Sound Implementation Strategies. Science Panel members will receive an overview of the research priorities used to inform the Puget Sound Implementation Strategies. Presentation by Matt Lurie, environmental planner at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Aimee Kinney, policy lead at the Puget Sound Institute, Sandra Dorning, research and monitoring coordinator at the Puget Sound Institue, and Andrew James, research scientist at the Puget Sound Institute.
- A presentation and discussion about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding model and support of science. EPA staff will provide an overview and seek input on the EPA funding model for effective implementation of the 2026-2030 Action Agenda and discuss plans for the next model. Presentation by Angela Adams, science lead at EPA Puget Sound Program.
- A presentation and discussion about federal policies. Staff will provide an update about the status of priority federal policies and appropriations related to Puget Sound recovery. Presentation by Ahren Stroming, special assistant for federal affairs at the Puget Sound Partnership.
- A presentation and discussion about 2025 legislative session plans and priorities. Staff will ask Science Panel members to review results of a recent prioritization exercise for the 2025 legislative session and decide either to recommend the existing prioritization or to recommend a change to the Leadership Council. Presentation by Don Gourlie, legislative policy director at the Puget Sound Partnership.
