Call for PSEMP SC Applicants

The Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program Steering Committee is seeking new members

Please see the full announcement and instructions on how to apply here

PSEMP was established in 2011 as a coordinated ecosystem monitoring and assessment program to support the Puget Sound Partnership and the many organizations and entities committed to restoring and protecting the health of the Puget Sound region. Its mission is to convene a collaborative network of subject matter experts who organize, synthesize, and communicate scientific information from many monitoring organizations and different parts of the ecosystem to directly address management and science questions critical to the recovery of the Puget Sound ecosystem. PSEMP is composed of twelve topical work groups and a steering committee that are supported by staff from the Puget Sound Partnership.

The PSEMP SC is a panel of experts, practitioners, managers, stakeholders, and others that bring multiple perspectives and skills to the organization. It provides guidance to, and fosters communications between, the PSEMP work groups through open and informed discussions. It works to foster collaboration across monitoring programs, support adaptive management, and promote internal and external communication.

The PSEMP SC represents PSEMP to the management and decision-making groups it serves, including the Partnership’s Boards (Leadership Council, Science Panel, and Ecosystem Coordination Board), the Salmon Recovery Council, the Partnership Executive Director, and many other partners.

In November 2020, PSEMP established a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Subcommittee. The Subcommittee works to develop and support the implementation of a strategy and resources for PSEMP to advance JEDI within the network and its products.

The PSEMP SC also oversees a “Monitoring to Accelerate Recovery” solicitation process, designed to support projects that strengthen the region’s system of recovery progress metrics (Vital Signs and Indicators), as well as projects that synthesize and evaluate monitoring data to explore causes behind ecosystem conditions, evaluate cumulative effects, and assess effectiveness of recovery actions and strategies
