Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council to discuss the draft list of strategies for the 2022-2026 Action Agenda
The Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council will meet on Tuesday, June 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Wednesday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the June 8-9 Leadership Council meetings will be virtual Zoom meetings for all participants and the public.
A presentation for discussion about the proposed allocation for fiscal year 2021 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Puget Sound Geographic Funds across the three Strategic Initiative Leads. Presentation by Peter Murchie, program manager, EPA Geographic Programs Section.
A presentation for discussion about the draft strategies for the 2022-2026 Action Agenda. For the purposes of the 2022-2026 Action Agenda update, a strategy describes an effective approach for advancing progress toward desired outcomes, Vital Signs, and overall recovery. This session will include discussion and feedback from the Leadership Council regarding the draft strategies for the 2022-2026 Action Agenda. Presentation by Dan Stonington, planning manager at the Puget Sound Partnership, Don Gourlie, environmental planner at the Puget Sound Partnership, and Kaitlin Harris, environmental planner at the Puget Sound Partnership.
A presentation on King County's Clean Water, Healthy Habitat initiative. This session will include a presentation of several proofs of concept related to water quality and fish passage, and a discussion of possible sequencing and trade-offs for those concepts. Presentation by Dow Constantine, King County executive, Abby Hook, environmental affairs officer, King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, and Evan Lewis, special projects manager, King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
A presentation and discussion about restoring local legislative control over the Conservation Futures Tax levy rates. This would provide local governments the option to customize their Conservation Futures rate in order to effectively respond to locally determined priorities—including salmon recovery efforts. Presentation by David Patton, Northwest Area Director at the Trust for Public Land.
A presentation and discussion about the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project. This session will include a summary of the findings of the past seven years of research regarding the primary factors influencing survival of juvenile Chinook, coho, and steelhead in the Salish Sea marine environment. Presentation by Michael Schmidt, deputy director of Long Live the Kings.
A discussion about the outcomes of the 2021 state legislative session, with a focus on the Partnership's priorities. This session will be led by Jay Manning, chair of the Leadership Council, and Jeff Parsons, legislative policy director at the Puget Sound Partnership.
