Salmon Recovery Council to discuss 2021 legislative priorities

The Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council will meet on Thursday, November 19, from 9:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the November 19 Salmon Recovery Council meeting will be a virtual Zoom meeting for all participants and the public.

Meeting highlights include:

• A presentation and discussion about the Salmon Recovery Council's (SRC) 2021 legislative priorities. This session will include updates about the state revenue forecast, agency decision packages, policy proposals, and plans for the 2021 legislative session. In addition, the session will include discussion about strategies for advancing Puget Sound policy and budget priorities. Presentation by Jeff Parsons, legislative policy director at the Puget Sound Partnership. 
   
• A presentation and decision about the SRC Funding Subcommittee's analysis of county-level Conservation Futures Tax (CFT) levy programs, considerations for identifying potential pilot counties, and outreach to interested partners. The session will be led by Mindy Roberts, Puget Sound program director at the Washington Environmental Council. 
  
  
• A presentation and discussion about net ecological gain with Representative Debra Lekanoff and Jeff Davis, director of conservation policy at the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. 
  
  
• Two presentations—one from Blue Forest and one from Ecosystem Investment Partners—highlighting innovative conservation finance mechanisms that may offer new opportunities to secure critical resources for Puget Sound recovery.
