Puget Sound Partnership Executive Director Stepping Down
OLYMPIA—The Executive Director of the Puget Sound Partnership, Sheida Sahandy, has announced that she is resigning from the agency. Appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to the position five years ago, Director Sahandy has transformed the Partnership and overseen the agency’s progress and success in serving a significant and innovative role in Puget Sound recovery. Most recently, Director Sahandy played a pivotal role in elevating the critical status of the Southern Resident orca to national attention.
“I am proud to leave the agency in the best shape it has ever been in, strong and focused, with excellent leadership and staff,” said Director Sahandy. Her personal message about her departure is posted on the Partnership’s website.
“Sheida has helped shape and grow the vital work being done to restore and protect one of Washington’s most important ecosystems,” Governor Jay Inslee said. “The health of Puget Sound is central to the health of our entire state, and Sheida and her team have contributed greatly to restoring the Sound and salmon in our waters. Sheida’s leadership on the Southern Resident Orca Task Force will have positive impacts for generations. I thank her for all her work at Puget Sound Partnership and wish her the very best in whatever challenges she takes on next.”
Director Sahandy’s last day at the Partnership will be Friday, May 3.
