Public invited to comment on the Draft 2018-2022 Action
Agenda for Puget Sound
The Puget Sound Partnership has released the Draft
2018-2022 Action Agenda for Puget Sound for public review and comment. The Action Agenda charts the course for Puget Sound recovery
by outlining the regional strategies and specific actions needed to protect and
recover Puget Sound. It also describes how the
work of many partner organizations contributes to improving the health of Puget
Sound.
“People often ask what it will take to recover the health of
Puget Sound,” said Sheida Sahandy, Executive Director of the Puget Sound
Partnership. “It can’t get done without a large, coordinated, collective, and
well-funded effort. The Action Agenda shows us how to get there. At stake is the
wellbeing of all those who call Puget Sound home today and into the future, as
well as the welfare of an ecosystem that supports a diversity of life,
including the endangered Chinook salmon and southern resident orcas.”
The Action Agenda consists of two plans:
The Comprehensive Plan describes how Puget Sound is at risk and the processes through which
people and organizations from around the region come together to prioritize
actions needed to recover Puget Sound.
The Implementation Plan lists the local or
regional activities that, when completed, will contribute to Puget Sound
recovery over the next four years.
The
Puget Sound Partnership is the state agency formed to lead the region’s
collective effort to restore and protect Puget Sound. Working with hundreds of government agencies, tribes, scientists, businesses, and nonprofits,
the Partnership mobilizes partner action around a common agenda,
advances Sound investments, and tracks progress to optimize recovery.
