The School Year 2026–2027 USDA Foods Interest Survey allows sponsors to express interest in which USDA direct products to add to the Washington State product list.
Complete the 2026–27 USDA Foods Interest Survey by January 16. Responses received after this date may not be considered.
Items with the highest interest will be included in the 2026–2027 Pre-Order survey.
Interest Survey vs Pre-Order Survey
Interest Survey: Informs OSPI which USDA Direct products should be added to the product list. If enough interest is expressed to order in the proper quantities, products will be available on the Pre-Order Survey.
Pre-order Survey: After sponsors express interest in items using the Interest Survey, they commit to ordering using the Pre-order Survey. Sponsors commit to how much and which items they will order in the upcoming school year.
Questions about the surveys? Please email the Food Distribution Inbox
It’s time to plan for the pre-order process. Look for the Interest Survey that will be due mid-January.
The pre-order process is an annual requirement for all sponsors. The process allows sponsors to allocate next year's entitlement to the food distribution programs that best fit sponsor needs and reserve USDA items for the organization. The Pre-Order Survey tells OSPI how much and what types of foods to order from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Washington Local Foods producers. The survey is released every February, and OSPI uses it to determine which foods to order the next school year.
