The Washington state legislature appropriates funding to support school meal programs, including breakfast meal assistance funds for free and reduced-price breakfast meals. During School Year 2024–25, these funds were paid out at a rate of $0.03 per breakfast. Our latest calculations indicate that we are on track to underspend this amount. As a result, we will retroactively increase the per breakfast assistance rate for breakfast meals from September 2024 to March 2025. This funding will be issued as a one-time lump sum payment with your June apportionment.

Please ensure that all claims for meals from September 2024 to March 2025 are entered into WINS by May 15, 2025, by 2pm to receive these funds.
