Mark your calendars! On Thursday, May 8, United Way of King County (UWKC) is hosting an exciting webinar titled "Opportunities for Rural Non-Congregate Summer Meals: Flexibilities & Best Practices"

This webinar will feature practical strategies, lessons learned, and inspiring examples from the field - perfect for sponsors serving rural communities or those exploring non-congregate options this summer.

We're especially excited to share that successful sponsors will be presenting, bringing their firsthand experiences and innovative approaches to the conversation.

This is a great chance to learn from peers, ask questions, and walk away with ideas you can apply right away. Don't miss it!

Update: New Way to Find Meals - UWKC's Summer Text Line is Live!

United Way of King County’s (UWKC) summer meals text line is officially live!

Beginning June 2025, families can text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” to 509-509 to instantly find nearby summer meal sites. This service is fast, free, and available in English and Spanish, helping eliminate barriers and connect kids to nutritious meals all summer long.

While the text line officially launches in early June, sponsors are encouraged to start promoting it now. UWKC outreach materials will feature this text line and are already in production. These resources will begin shipping mid-May and are a great way to spread the word in your community, so be sure to order yours now.

How You Can Help:

Include the 509-509 number on flyers, websites, and social media.
Share with schools, libraries, clinics, and local partners.
Use the text line as part of your outreach and promotion strategy to boost awareness and participation.

This is a simple, powerful tool to help families access the support they need—thank you for helping us make sure no child goes hungry this summer!
