Tips for Mentors March 2024
Dear Mentors,
Spring is upon us, and this is often the time of year we feel a resurgence of joy and motivation.
- How might you harness this time of renewal to help new educators and mentees engage with their journey, process, progress, and growth?
- What is one professional goal that you, as a mentor, have accomplished this year?
- What are your next steps to grow professionally?
As you embark on the next few months of the school year, BEST offers hope and energy for showing up with your brilliance, stories, and knowledge to support, mentor, and coach new educators.
Thank you for all you do.
Sincerely,
BEST
Resources Shared by Mentors Attending BEST Mentor Roundtables
We asked our Roundtable participants what resources they would like to share with others. Here is what they have to offer:
BEAM Pedagogy - A Space for Educators
Beam Pedagogy was created by educators.
You are invited!
Join us on April 20th for a PD you’ve never experienced at the "Bite of Education!" Bawaajigekwe Boulley will be the quiche-note speaker (keynote, quiche-note… get it?!).
What is "The Bite of Education?"
The Bite of Education is a FREE one-day festival showcasing the best lessons, practices and ideas that educators bring into their classrooms.
It is an event created by and for educators who are excited to sample what their colleagues do and to connect with a broader community.
Think of it like the Bite of Seattle, only with bites of pedagogy instead of food!
Tell me more...
Imagine walking into a space abuzz with educators. They’re all talking with each other about classroom and school-based practices they care about. You walk from one table to another collecting exciting ideas you can use when you get back to school on Monday. It’s not the PD we’re used to! It’s the “Bite of Education.”
The Bite of Education is an outside-the-box PD experience hosted by Beam Pedagogy on April 20th from 9am-1pm at the Othello-UW Commons in Seattle. It’s a play on the Bite of Seattle, where foodies sample different restaurant offerings. Except that in this event, educators sample bite-sized offerings of practices created and used by educators in our region. It’s professional development by educators, for educators.
FREE CLOCK HOURS
Free clock hours will be provided in partnership with Washington Ethnic Studies Now.
