Equitable Services Technical Assistance Training
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Federal Program Equitable Services Ombudsmen will be hosting an informational training session for school district and private school personnel.

What: The practicum builds upon the content delivered through Glean Education’s Washington State Structured Literacy Course Bundle and is intended to support Structured Literacy implementation fidelity among the state’s teachers to increase equity of reading interventions among all students. The practicum is aligned with the International Dyslexia Association’s teacher practice standards and designed to support implementation of Washington’s HB6162 in enabling educators to better understand the Structured Literacy instructional supports referred to in the bill.
Funding Dual, Heritage, and Tribal Language Programs Webinar

Attend this webinar for federal program directors, LEA business managers, and language education program administrators. Dual, heritage, and tribal language education programs are designed to prevent and close opportunity gaps for multilingual and American Indian/Alaska Native students. The student outcome goals are 1) bilingualism and biliteracy proficiency, 2) high academic achievement in all content areas, and 3) sociocultural competence.

New OSPI Literacy Summit 2023
We are delighted to welcome you to Literacy Summit 2023, organized by OSPI and presented by Joyful Literacy.
Presenting Topic: The Science of Reading, A Virtual Learning Experience with Literacy Leaders. The Why and How of Equitable Structured Literacy

Registration Steps:
- The single registration link can be accessed through PdEnroller or through Joyful Literacy.
- After you complete the request for registration through Joyful Literacy you will be sent information from Joyful Literacy to confirm registration and complete your summit payment ($200).
- When you complete the registration information and provide payment you will receive a confirmation email and updates as we move closer to the summit date.
- Clock Hours:16 free clock hours are awarded from OSPI for registered participants. To support the process of awarding clock hours, please be sure your PdEnroller email and the email you provide to Joyful Literacy for registration is the same.

2023 SHAPE America professional development support opportunity
Reminder:
Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Healthy Schools Washington program has funds available to support up to 19 Health and Physical Educators from rural schools to attend the 2023 Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) America National Convention in Seattle on March 28 – April 1, 2023. Funds are available for registration and travel costs (based on state per diem rates) up to $2,500 per educator. Requirements to apply:
- Educators must be currently serving a rural school (have a locale code of 32, 33, 41, 42, or 43 as determined by the National Center for Education Statistics).
- Educators must agree to attend at least three full days of the convention.
- Educators must agree to share back with OSPI which sessions were attended and provide a short description of session take-aways (form will be provided).
- Educators must agree to share back resources with their district.
- Educators must agree to participate in one statewide webinar to share resources and take-aways with other health and physical educators in Washington. Webinars to be scheduled by OSPI this academic year.
- Educators must submit information to be reimbursed by April 29, 2023.
- Receive approval from principal to attend and assurance a substitute will be provided in the educator’s absence. Substitute fees will not be covered by this funding.
To apply: Complete an application by January 13, 2023.
