Ornaments for the Holiday Tree at the Governor’s Mansion

Washington students are invited to make ornaments for this year’s holiday tree at the Governor’s Mansion.  The First Lady, Mrs. Inslee has selected the theme of “holiday toys” for this year’s tree.  Many visitors will visit the Governor’s mansion this holiday season and will see the display of ornaments created by K-12 students.

If you’re interested in having your students make ornaments for the 2022 holiday tree at the Governor’s mansion, please complete this application by noon on Monday, October 24, 2022.  Selected classes will be notified by Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

 

Project Details

  • Approximately 16 classes (K-12) from across the state will be selected to make a total of 400 ornaments (one per student).
  • All participating students will be required to submit a release form.
  • Theme: “Holiday Toys”
  • Ornaments can be 2- or 3-dimensional.
  • Ornaments should be 3 ½” - 4 ½” or about the size of a 3x5 index card.
  • Ornaments should be made ready to hang.
  • Ornaments should not be too heavy to hang on a tree.
  • Teacher is responsible for sending ornaments to OSPI, arriving by Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
  • Ornaments will not be returned and will become part of the state’s archived permanent collection.
  • All students will receive a certificate of appreciation/participation.
