October 2022
The WAFCS Scholarship Fundraiser is back at the 2022 Washington FCS Annual Conference!
The fundraiser is back with a new format! It will be a combination of silent auction items and a raffle. The event will kick off Monday morning and bidding will be open until the end of sessions that day.
We need donations! We are looking for a variety of items, such as gift cards, themed baskets, personal items, things for classrooms, etc. Our only request is that the items be new. Creating a special basket or hand-crafted items is also a great addition! Please bring all items to the conference registration desk.
This annual event assists up-and-coming FCS professionals. WAFCS awards the annual scholarship on a rotating basis between basis between Central Washington University, Seattle Pacific University, and Washington State University

DCYF is pleased to partner with OSPI and local school districts to provide access to Child Care Basics (CCB).
Beginning October 1, DCYF started taking steps to limit who qualifies as a CCB trainer to help ensure consistency of training. You may have received communication from DCYF that specified “all trainers who are not associated with a DCYF professional development contracted organization or an approved training organization will have their Child Care Basics template removed.”
This communication DOES NOT PERTAIN TO Family and Consumer Science CCB trainers. As long as you are a state approved trainer with DCYF, you may continue to offer CCB. Please be sure that you are always using the most current curriculum resources provided in Basecamp each time you offer CCB.
DCYF is committed to partnering with OSPI and local school districts to make CCB training content available in high school settings. If you are interested in becoming a state approved trainer or have questions about your current status, please contact DCYF at training@dcyf.wa.gov.
