Created in 2021, the Leaders in Education Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Racial justice (LEADER) initiative aims to elevate community-driven efforts that increase and sustain diversity in Washington’s educator workforce. Through a series of statewide planning and implementation grants between 2022-30, the LEADER initiative will transform educational policies, practices, and institutional cultures.
The planning grant, which is the first of two grant phases, will provide up to 10 awardees with $150,000 to map community assets, analyze local needs and opportunities, and develop a workforce strategic plan.
An information packet about the planning grant is now available and includes details on the grant process, requirements, timeline, and application questions.
When will the application be available?
February 28
Who can apply?
Regional conveners are the primary grant applicant with financial responsibility. Conveners must be an Educational Service District (ESD), tribal organization, community organization, educator preparation program, school district, or another group that meets the eligibility requirements outlined in the information packet.
