School districts can apply for up to $30,000 in funding for evidence-based Social Emotional Learning curriculum. School districts that receive funding are required to use the adopted Washington SEL Standards.
Priority for funding will be given to school districts that have not already purchased evidence-based social emotional learning curriculum and are eligible for high-poverty allocations from the learning assistance program.
Interested districts should apply by February 17, 2022 to be considered. For more details and to apply, go to iGrants, log in, and search for Form Package 167.

The administration period for the COVID-19 Student Survey: Impacts & Implications on Student Learning and Well-Being has been extended! Schools can administer this survey in a school building or remotely at a time that works best for them from February 1st to February 28th
Registration is open now until February 24th.
This survey, for students in grades 6 to 12 is an opportunity for districts to gather student’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional questions about school experience and mental health have been added to the survey this year.
Watch this quick 2 minute video that explains the survey and how to register for it.
The survey was developed with schools and districts in mind. It’s meant to be actionable, allowing schools to use the data that they receive to inform their work and to potentially use the data to apply for future funding opportunities.
The survey will take most students less than 15 minutes to complete, but we do encourage schools to protect a 25 minute window for in-school completion.
Districts will receive survey results in April 2022, in time to use for development of school improvement plans, reengagement plans, and other planning.
A copy of the survey questions can be found here.
The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Somali.

Hello, my name is Debra Parker. I am married 24 years to my husband, Riley. We have three boys, two dogs, two cats, ducks and chickens on our little funny farm in Olympia. I am excited to be part of the Social Emotional Learning team as the Emergency and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Project Supervisor. I believe in Growth Mindset, and that fostering caring relationships are key to lifelong success.
I look forward to this important work in creating tools for a strong learning environment for everyone.
