Since Spring 2021, the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) has been leading a coordinated, community-centered effort to review and revise Washington’s educator standards to ensure their alignment with cultural competency, diversity, equity, and inclusion (CCDEI) practices. The revised standards will apply to all educator roles, and will be used in the preparation of educator candidates and in professional learning opportunities throughout an educator’s career.
Community engagement has been a vitally important piece of our drafting process, and we continue to prioritize opportunities for our partners and the public to help shape the future of equity in education. After carefully reviewing the input received from our initial survey and feedback sessions, the technical advisory workgroup made informed revisions to our first draft to ensure the public’s interests and concerns were captured. We now have a second draft of the CCDEI+ standards.
Ways to engage
We are currently seeking a second round of feedback from families, K-12 students, and community members on the newly revised standards.
-
Take our survey: The survey should take about 7-15 minutes. Your responses will be presented anonymously and in aggregate. Take the survey.
-
Attend a feedback session: We are holding a virtual feedback session for families, K-12 students, and community members on February 2 from 5 - 6 p.m. Register to attend.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to fully engage and participate.
