Voicing Culture Through Family Engagement | Familias Participando y Respondiendo al Arte Cultural
Join Selah School District to learn about the importance of an integral program where families' voices count. Their goal is to strengthen families and to deliver opportunities to learn, participate, and gain a better perspective of how the school district identifies gaps in the program and areas of improvement. The techniques and strategies mentioned in this presentation apply to families of different backgrounds and will show how to break down barriers for parent participation. This presentation will be in Spanish with English interpretation.

U.S. Department of Education Releases New Resource on Supporting Child and Student Social, Emotional, Behavioral and Mental Health
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) released a new resource, Supporting Child and Student Social, Emotional, Behavioral and Mental Health, to provide information and resources to enhance the promotion of mental health and the social and emotional well-being among children and students. This resource highlights seven key challenges to providing school- or program-based mental health support across early childhood, K–12 schools, and higher education settings, and presents seven corresponding recommendations.
The pandemic’s impact on mental health at home and around the world, to present an opportunity for meaningful conversations about mental health, and to celebrate schools and other institutions that have found new and promising ways to provide mental health services to students. This document is part of the Return to School Roadmap, which stresses the importance of supporting students’ social, emotional, and mental health to create a strong foundation for students’ academic success.
This resource for educators and practitioners is intended to supplement and build on the information in the prior released ED COVID-19 Handbooks:

National ESEA Conference February 16–19, 2022
The National ESEA Conference is an annual project of the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) and the only conference focused entirely on federal education programs for disadvantaged students. The conference emphasizes the critical nature of doing what’s right and what’s needed today–to help every child succeed and achieve at high levels.
If you'd like a little help convincing your boss about the benefits of attending the 2022 National ESEA Conference, we've created this Request for Approval Letter. Feel free to sign and submit the letter as is, or use it as a starting point to customize your own request.

Reporting Reminders
Before LAP funds can be released for the 2021–22 school year, LEAs must have:
- Submitted form package (FP) 218 in iGrants.

Submitted LAP end-of-year (EOY) report for school year 2020–21 in EDS.
To begin receiving LAP funding in November, please complete the above tasks before November 15. December 16 is the last possible date for LEAs to meet the requirements for accessing LAP funds in the 2021–22 school year.

HB 1208 (2021) Resources
LAP has created the resources below to help LEAs and schools understand the changes to LAP as a result of the passage of HB 1208 (2021).
These statutory changes impact OSPI rules for LAP under chapter 392-162 WAC. The agency has completed emergency rulemaking to align the rules with the provisions of HB 1208 (2021) and has initiated the regular rulemaking process.
