Pamella is currently an educational support professional serving as an intervention specialist in the Rochester school district. Pamella’s professional experience in the education system ranges across many roles, allowing her to accumulate a wealth of knowledge and diverse perspectives.
Despite being a new board member, she is not new to this work. Pamella served as a critical participant on various PESB subcommittees, charged with developing the foundational components and framework of the paraeducator certificate program. During this time, she was able to contribute valuable insight to help inform program design and support the success of Washington’s paraeducators.
When asked what she most looks forward to as a board member, Pamella says she hopes to “continue moving the Paraeducator Board in a direction that has equity and diversity in the forefront, while keeping strategic planning and good governance in mind.” She adds, “I am passionate about how we, as educators, must have a strong voice to make change happen that not only influences ourselves, but our students in a multicultural world.”
“As schools continue to fill many roles in the lives of students, challenges such as racial and social justice, poverty, and equity will need to be discussed so that our [paraeducators] are given the tools to develop authentic relationships that are meaningful. This is why I am hopeful and inspired daily.”
