About Krestin
Krestin is currently the superintendent for the Eatonville School District, where she has served since 2013. We are excited to hear that at the start of the 2021-22 school year, Krestin will transition to her new role as superintendent for the Peninsula School District.
Krestin earned a bachelor’s degree in biological science from Pacific Lutheran University, a master’s degree in education from City University, and her superintendent certification from Washington State University. In addition to her education experience, Krestin has participated in numerous education committees, workgroups, and advisory boards, including serving as the past president of the Washington Association of School Administrators. Krestin has also been recognized and awarded as a transformative and innovative leader and champion of student success.
As a new member of the Board, Krestin says she most looks forward to “partnering with other board members to better understand and serve the needs of the educator workforce.” Krestin adds that “increasing the access and availability for educators to serve their students throughout the state is an honor and a privilege.”
One particular source of inspiration for Krestin is drawn from the multiple mentors she’s had throughout her career. “These mentors kept students at the center of all of their decisions and increased equity and access for all children by investing in the adults in the system. I keep as my source of inspiration their words, actions, and results. It is an honor to be a lifelong learner to better serve students. My mentors moved mountains so that I was successful and could grow my skills and knowledge of educational practice. They believed in innovation, creativity, and wonder for all children.”
We look forward to Krestin joining us at the May meeting.
