Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)- Application Open

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Application for School Year 2021-22 is now open in WINS!

OSPI recently published B017-21: Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Application Packet School Year 2021-22. The FFVP provides a fresh fruit or vegetable snack to elementary school students and is an effective and creative way to introduce fresh produce as a healthy snack option.

Funds are awarded to the highest free and reduced-price (FRP) percentage elementary schools. In the past four years, the FRP percentage cut-off has not been below 70%. We invite all schools that meet the eligibility requirements to apply for this program.

There are two requirements for eligibility:

50% or more of the students enrolled in the school must be eligible for free or reduced price meals.
The school must meet the definition of an elementary school; Pre-K/Kindergarten through grade 5 or a variation or, Pre-K/Kindergarten through grade 8.

The application deadline for participation for school year 2021-22 is April 30, 2021. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Your application will be submitted using the Washington Integrated Nutrition System (WINS)! You can review the Applying for FFVP Using WINS recorded training to better understand this process.

Summer Special Milk Program Application Open!

OSPI Child Nutrition Services recently released B015-21: Summer Special Milk Application 2021.

The SMP provides milk to children in schools, childcare institutions, and eligible camps that do not participate in other federal child nutrition meal service programs. The program reimburses schools and institutions for the milk they serve.

Applications are due June 8, 2021. Applications received late may not be approved in time to allow milk to be claimed at the start of the program.
Please read the bulletin and corresponding attachments carefully for detailed information on completing and submitting all parts of the application.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) - FY22 Family Day Care Home (FDCH) Provider Bulletin Released

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Child Nutrition Services (CNS) has released B013-21: FY22 Family Day Care Home Application Materials for New and Renewing Providers bulletin. Additional attachments are located on the OSPI Bulletins webpage.

About This Bulletin

This bulletin details information for the application process between Family Day Care Home Sponsors and new or renewing Day Care Home Providers. Licensed in-home providers and exempt providers eligible to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) may submit an application to a Family Day Care Home Sponsor.

Providers currently on the CACFP hold a permanent agreement with the sponsoring organization, although some parts of the application process must be completed annually.
