Have you noticed 1% and fat free milk have been in short supply?
Due to low freezing temperatures in the Gulf Coast, the production and supply of resin has been interrupted. Resin is used in plastic containers such as half and full gallon milk jugs.
Many dairy suppliers have continued to make 2% and fat free milk available while 1% milk has been removed from the supply chain. This shift in the supply and demand has resulted in a shortage of the CACFP reimbursable milk varieties (Fat Free and 1%).
Milk availability is projected to be back to normal supply by the week of April 12th.
What Do You Need To Do?
The Meal Distribution Plan (MDP) provides the state agency information about which waivers you intend to use.
If you have not been able to provide CACFP reimbursable milk varieties (fat free or 1%) but you have been able to provide 2% or whole milk in your centers, you must inform OSPI CNS.
Note: If you have submitted an MDP or MDP Update Survey that includes the Meal Pattern Flexibility Waiver for milk fat %, no action is required.
Questions? Please contact your OSPI CNS Program Specialist.
We are moving to a single Permanent Agreement between OSPI and Child Nutrition Program sponsors that covers all Child Nutrition programs. If eligible to operate additional programs, sponsors no longer have to sign separate agreements as part of the application process.
OSPI anticipated switching all current sponsors to the single agreement during FY 21. This process has taken longer than anticipated. We will reach out to sponsors individually to begin the signature process in the coming months. Thank you for your patience during this time.
Lunch n’ Learn webinars are short, concise, “power sessions” on specific CACFP-related topics. Most of the topics are based on sponsor suggestions and we will be presenting a different one each month through September!
