Grants are now available to develop the next generation of teachers by inspiring high school students to serve their communities and explore careers in education.
These grants, offered by the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB), support the implementation or continuation of Recruiting Washington Teachers (RWT) and Bilingual Educator Initiative (BEI) programs. See the application informational packet for grant and program details.
Washington State school districts and tribal compact schools are eligible to apply. Grant amounts vary.
What's the application deadline?
Applications are due April 19. Awardees will be announced by May 31.

What is the purpose of the grant?
Recruiting Washington Teachers (RWT) and the Bilingual Educator Initiative (BEI) are high school teacher academies that work to “grow your own” group of future teachers who more closely reflect the diverse demographics of today’s students.
Recognizing that a diverse teacher workforce plays a crucial role in providing an equitable education system, RWT and BEI programs recruit multicultural and multilingual students to explore cultural identity and educational opportunities, with the goal that these students will eventually return to their districts as educators.
