New strategic plan paves way for progress and policy transformation
The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) and the Paraeducator Board are pleased to announce the release of their 2021-25 strategic plan. Following 18 months of research, data collection, and expansive community engagement efforts, both Boards unanimously approved the four year plan at their joint meeting in January. View the plan on our website.
Plan overview
The 2021-25 strategic plan will serve as a foundation for our agency’s work and guide us towards achieving six new aspirational goals which have been aligned across the educator career continuum. The plan also outlines a new mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities - all of which will help us remain intentionally focused and grounded in our efforts to address inequities, disparities, and barriers within the educator preparation and workforce systems.
Monitoring progress
The release of the plan is just the first step in our strategic journey. The second step is tracking and evaluating our progress and remaining responsive to the evolving landscape of education and the educator workforce. Key performance indicators will guide our data collection and analysis efforts to measure outcomes, evaluate agency effectiveness, and make informed decisions. We’ve also published several interactive, goal-specific data dashboards on our website and will produce annual reports outlining goal progress, barriers, and next steps.
Acknowledgements
We want to thank the several individuals, organizations, community groups, and stakeholders that came together to contribute their voice and guidance during our planning process. Our plan reflects the critical needs and themes we heard throughout our engagement efforts and provides us with a framework for systemwide approaches that contribute to educational success in Washington.
