You're invited to a second paraeducator listening session

We’re excited to announce our second paraeducator listening session will take place on March 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. This event is an opportunity for our Paraeducator Board members to hear directly from paraeducators about their roles during COVID-19, and their experiences receiving the Fundamental Course of Study training. Any Washington paraeducator interested in sharing their story, or listening to the stories of others, are encouraged to attend.

To allow for more casual conversation, we plan on using Zoom’s breakout rooms to randomly assign paraeducators into small groups with at least one Board member and PESB staff member.

Event agenda

  • Presentation on professional growth plans (PGPs)
  • Discussion between paraeducators and board members:
    • Reflections on paraeducator training
    • The impact of COVID-19 on the role of a paraeducator

Participation is on a first-come, first-serve basis, as the meeting has a limit of 300 participants. Unlike the November 2020 listening session, you do not have to sign-up in advance of the event to speak. However, you must register to attend the event.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you have a disability and require special accommodations or assistance to fully participate, please email us at paraboard@k12.wa.us and one of our staff members will reach out to you. Requests should be made as soon as possible but at least five business days prior to the scheduled event, meeting, or webinar.
