The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) is offering grants of $10,000 to support school districts and tribal compact schools as they implement an RWT or RWT-BEI program. Grants will support districts as they work to increase opportunities for historically underserved students to explore careers in education. View our informational packet to learn more about the grant.
What are the RWT and RWT-BEI programs?
The mission of the Recruiting Washington Teachers (RWT) program is to “grow our own” diverse group of future teachers who more closely reflect the student population within local communities. RWT is a high school teacher academy program, founded in equity pedagogy, that helps students explore cultural identity and educational opportunities through the lens of the teaching profession.
The Bilingual Educator Initiative (RWT-BEI) focuses on the same core mission as the original RWT program, with a distinct focus on developing future bilingual teachers. Learn more about both of these programs on our website.
