Update: FY21 Renewal Process for CACFP Sponsors

Renewal Opens in WINS today, August 17, 2020.

Renewal to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for fiscal year 2021 will open next week. Please complete the program application in the Washington Integrated Nutrition System (WINS).

OSPI Child Nutrition Services (CNS) publishes bulletins to assist you in the renewal process. These bulletins and correlating attachments are located on the OSPI Bulletins webpage.

Application Due Date - October 1, 2020.

For all sponsors, applications submitted late may not be approved in time to receive reimbursement for meals served in the first month of operation.

Updates

• Points of Contact: Please remember to update the WINS sponsor profile page to reflect new/changed points of contact for your organization. We use this information to share important CNS Updates. 
• Responsible Principals: We have changed the contact page so you must designate at least one responsible principal and add their birthdate. Once submitted in the system the birthdate information will only be available to OSPI and your organization’s Sponsor-Administrator.
• Meal Distribution Plan (MDP): Due to the ongoing health emergency, sponsors will be required to submit a MDP as part of renewal.
  • You will be required to submit a MDP if you plan to utilize any of the Nationwide waivers AND if your meal service looks different than it traditionally does.
  • More details will be provided during Annual Training and CNS Weekly Newsletters. Please keep an eye out for these updates.

Update: Submit Your Meal Distribution Form for Renewal

For sponsors who wish to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in FY2021, a WINS renewal application and Meal Distribution Plan (MDP) Survey must be completed and submitted.

Program operators should fill out the MDP Survey based on current meal distribution methods. We understand during this public health emergency that school districts’ instructional and meal service models may change. Program operators should re-submit their MDP survey as their meal distribution models are updated.

OSPI CNS is finalizing the electronic MDP Survey. Please keep an eye out for future weekly CNS newsletters.

Due to the public health crisis, USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements are subject to change both as updated guidance is received from the USDA and at the discretion of the State Agency. Please check CNS Updates and OSPI's website for all important updates and/or changes.

Update: Annual Training Requirements

Annual training is required for continued participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). At a minimum, the person responsible for oversight of the CACFP must attend. This training is intended for directors and administrators. Monitors are encouraged to attend. Child Care, Family Day Care Home Sponsors Required Live Webinar  During this webinar, we will cover USDA program updates, hot topics, Civil Rights, and more! There is a maximum of 2 registrants from each organization. UPDATE: STARS credits will be offered to those who attend the LIVE session on 8/19/2020. Additionally those who watch the recorded Annual Training and register with their STARS ID are eligible for STARS credits until 9/30/2020. More details on how to watch recorded sessions will be released in an upcoming CNS newsletter. Register Here Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2020 Time: 1 - 3 pm PT We look forward to 'seeing' you there! Supplemental Recorded Sessions In addition to this live session, we will also be providing recorded sessions. These sessions are meant to enhance CACFP knowledge and are not part of the required training. More information about these recorded sessions will be released soon.   At-Risk Sponsors Community Organization sponsors must attend the CACFP Childcare Annual Training.
