In July 2019, members from both the Paraeducator Board and the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) began working on their 2021-25 strategic plan. Our four year strategic plan helps us determine long-term goals, actions we will take to reach them, and key performance indicators to help monitor progress. A draft outline of the plan can be seen on our website.
Over the last several months, we’ve been meeting with a variety of partner organizations to share our strategic planning efforts and gather their input and insights. Building off of these meetings, our next step is to further engage our stakeholders and community members in a broader context. To do this, we are convening a series of virtual forums on September 2 to collect your feedback on the strategic plan’s draft components.
Engagement and event information
Our community forums on September 2nd will include one hour feedback sessions focusing on a specific area of the educator career continuum. Registration is limited, so please RSVP at your earliest convenience. The registration link will close on September 1.
Register to attend.
It’s critical we hear from, and engage with you about how we can strengthen Washington’s educator workforce, and better support student success. Your experiences and unique perspective will help us to identify opportunities for improvement, where gaps may exist, and where clarity is needed.
There is no limit on how many sessions you can register for, but you must register for each one individually. During these sessions, you will engage with PESB staff, board members, and community members in both small and large group settings to help inform PESB’s focus areas, goals, identify barriers, and guide future policy work as it relates to the career continuum area.
Sessions
- 9-10 a.m. | Access and identify: Educator candidates are exploring pathways to a career in education.
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. | Prepare: Preparation programs are developing candidates to meet and exceed educator standards.
- 1-2 p.m. | Place: Students are receiving instruction and services from properly credentialed educators.
- 2:30-3:30 p.m. | Retain: Educators are engaged in a fulfilling and supportive work environment.
- 4-5 p.m. | Growth and transition: Educators are advancing their career, and enhancing their professional skills.
So that you are equipped with the background and knowledge of each continuum area, we will send out a pre-forum folder with materials for you to review in advance. We hope these resources will serve as a valuable tool to prepare and support you in session dialogue. We anticipate sending this folder to registered participants at least two weeks prior to the event.
