From the Director's Desk Leanne Eko, Director OSPI Child Nutrition Services
First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you. During the past month, we have seen your passion and drive to continue feeding children flourish. It isn’t easy being on the front lines during these times, so please take a deep breath and know that we are in this together.
Over the past few weeks information has changed significantly. We understand and acknowledge how difficult and frustrating this can be. We are working to return phone calls, respond to emails and provide information as quickly as possible, however we know it can never be fast enough.
Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for sending in your questions. We have been working to put together information and get answers as quickly as possible and are happy to share our Operating CACFP During the COVID-19 Pandemic - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
We hope this answers your questions, but if you need further assistance, please contact your program specialist.
As We Move Forward
We continue to communicate with USDA on a daily basis; to seek guidance, ask questions, and “push” on regulations and rules that don’t seem prudent or practical during this outbreak.
Please share information on challenges or food shortages with your program specialist. We are working on waiver requests to assist you with program operations during this time.
Many schools are providing meals in their communities under the Summer Food Service Program that includes meal service to all children ages 0 through 18 years. Check your local school districts website for what meal service may be available.
Please continue to monitor the situation in your community. Work with your local health jurisdiction for information and guidance regarding social distancing and food safety. We also encourage you to work with local non-profit organizations to coordinate efforts to meet the needs of your community.
As always, thanks for all you do!!
