Subject: Paraeducator program share fairs in Everett and Tukwila postponed

As communities within our state prepare for and respond to a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and with meeting guidance from the Governor’s Office, the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) has made the decision to postpone the Paraeducator Certificate Program share fairs in Everett and Tukwila that were scheduled to take place on March 18 and 19. While we understand this change is last minute, we believe it is in the best interest of public safety to limit large group gatherings until further notice.

The purpose of these share fair meetings is to facilitate a conversation between district implementation leaders, and to learn from each other on the successes and challenges of the paraeducator certificate program. This has been a highly requested activity, and we welcome all implementation leaders to attend.

The share fair in Everett has been rescheduled to May 14 at 9 a.m. We anticipate hosting the Tukwila and Spokane share fairs in early May as well. We will notify you when dates are finalized.

An “online share fair” is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 28. We anticipate this meeting will be three hours. Agenda details and information on how to participate will be sent in the coming weeks.

Tentative future share fair calendar:

  • April 27, 9 a.m. in Vancouver SD
  • May 14, 9 a.m. in Everett SD
  • May 19, 1 p.m. in Yakima SD
  • May 21, 2 p.m. in Tri-Cities
  • May 28, 1 p.m. online via Zoom
  • Spokane (early May)
  • Tukwila (early May)
