PESB kicks off community engagement campaign for new strategic plan

In July 2019, members from both the Paraeducator Board and the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) began working on their 2021-25 strategic plan. Our four year strategic plan helps us determine long-term goals, actions we will take to reach them, and key performance indicators to help monitor progress. A draft outline of the plan, including a new mission, vision, value words, guiding principles, and educator career continuum goals and definitions can be seen on our website.

Community engagement next steps

Our next step in the strategic planning process is to engage our partners, stakeholders, and community members. To do this, we are convening a series of regional community forums, and promoting an online, public survey. The objective of these engagement opportunities is to collect your feedback on the plan’s draft components, help inform our agency’s focus areas, identify barriers, and guide future policy work as it relates to the educator career continuum.

It is important we hear from and engage with you about how we can strengthen Washington’s educator workforce, and better support student success. Your experiences and unique perspective will help us to identify opportunities for improvement, where gaps may exist, and where clarity is needed.

How can I participate?

Take our survey

Our online, public survey is now available. The survey should take about 7-10 minutes. Your responses will be kept confidential and will be presented anonymously and in aggregate. Please complete the survey by Monday, June 1, 2020. We welcome you to share this survey with others you think would be interested. Take the survey.

Attend a community forum

We will have four community forums taking place in the Seattle and Richland regions tied to our board meetings in March and May. Each forum will focus on a specific area of the career continuum, and will include table activities, a panel of experts, and light refreshments. The forums will focus on gathering community feedback on the strategic plan goals, and strategies to help us move our work forward. Due to space capacity at each event, we are asking that you RSVP in advance.

We intend to host a live broadcast on our PESB facebook page during each of the panel discussions where viewers will have the opportunity to submit any questions or comments they may have. Follow our facebook page for updates and to learn more.
