Professional Development for Chinese Teachers
The College Board is excited to announce the Professional Learning Webinar Series to provide flexible professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers and administrators to enhance their Chinese language programs. They will be hosting complimentary webinars for Chinese teachers and school administrators to provide great learning opportunities for educators. Topic 1: American National Learning Standards for Foreign Language and Backward Design

World Affairs Council World Educator Award
Congratulations Hiromi Pingry, the World Affairs Council’s 2019-2020 World Educator!
Hiromi Pingry was born in Tokyo, Japan but the city she has lived longest in is Seattle! She has been teaching for 16 years in the Japanese immersion program at John Stanford International School, Seattle District’s first international school with a dual language program. She previously worked for the Japan International Cooperation Agency in the medical cooperation divisionand the PR division for the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, similar to the Peace Corps.
She earned her teacher certification in 2002 and her Master of Arts in Human Development in 2005 through Pacific Oaks Northwest.
Currently her focus is how to value each student and nurture every student to be a global citizen.
