Professional Growth Plans (PGPs) and the STEM certificate renewal requirement
PGPs are are job-embedded, self-directed professional development. In a PGP, educators set their own goals, align them to certification standards, design an action plan, collect evidence documenting their growth, and then reflect on the process.
The STEM certificate renewal requirement applies to specific certificates and endorsement holders. STEM integration is the authentic combination of at least two of the STEM components (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).

Changes made to clock hour policy
Clock hours are a unit of currency for continuing education. They can be used to obtain and renew certificates for Washington teachers, administrators, educational staff associates (ESAs), and are now used in the paraeducator certificate program.
At the July 2019 board meeting, PESB approved changes to clock hour policy based on recommendations from the clock hour work group. Recommendations focused on flexibility and access, streamlining the system, and accountability.
