Governor appoints new member to PESB board

Meet Tenesha

Tenesha is currently the principal at Cascade View Elementary school, and has spent much of her career in roles such as assistant principal, dean of students, and classroom teacher. Her teaching background includes project based learning, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

As a new member of the board, Tenesha most looks forward to “being part of a team to foster and bring ideas to support teaching, instruction, culture, and diversity.” She believes the work of the board “supports the culture of learning where teachers and administrators perform at optimal levels to provide the best resources and learning for all students to excel.”

Tenesha earned her Bachelor of Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University, her Master of Education from Pacifc Lutheran University, her Master of Educational Leadership at the University of Washington, and she is currently working on her Doctorate of Educational Leadership. Tenesha is also involved in the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP), serves on the AWSP Elementary School Principals Association of Washington executive committee, and is an AWSP Professional Development Representative.

A farewell

Tenesha Fremstad has replaced Ernesto Araiza. Beginning his service in 2015, Ernesto served on the board for four years, and was actively engaged in prioritizing diversity, equity, inclusion and educator workforce initiatives in Washington.

We want to thank him for his dedication and commitment to serving Washington’s educators, and wish him nothing but success in future endeavors. We were pleased to acknowledge Ernesto’s contributions at our July board meeting.
