Alternative Routes Block Grant (ARBG)

ARBG is a competitive grant comprised of candidate conditional loan and program funding, awarded on a two year cycle. Awardees are selected based on their ability to create effective programs that meet district workforce development needs. PESB-approved Alternative Routes programs are encouraged to apply.

Block grant funding is candidate-centric; candidates receive a conditional loan to use toward costs of completing the Alternative Routes program, and programs receive funding distributed between the teacher preparation program, school district partners, and mentor teachers based on the number of candidates enrolled. Programs awarded in 2019 will receive funding for school years 2020-21 and 2021-22.

We are hosting two webinars this summer for programs interested in applying.

Programs interested in applying must submit a letter of intent by August 12 at 5 p.m. to receive a link to the online grant application. The grant application is due October 1 at 5 p.m.

ESD Alternative Routes Grant

This is a competitive grant that provides financial aid to candidates enrolled in an ESD’s alternative routes program during school years 2019-20 and 2020-21. ESDs approved by PESB to offer alternative routes programs are encouraged to apply.

Candidates enrolled in the awarded program will receive up to a $5,000 scholarship to use toward costs of completing the Alternative Routes program. The awarded program will receive scholarship funding for up to 20 candidates in 2019-20, and up to 30 candidates in 2020-21.

The grant application is due by July 22 at 5 p.m.
