Grant applications available to pilot bilingual high school teacher academy

Washington school districts can now apply to participate in the Recruiting Washington Teachers – Bilingual Educators Initiative (RWT-BEI) pilot program. 

Applications are due April 30, 2019 by 5 p.m.

What is RWT-BEI?

The purpose of the Recruiting Washington Teachers – Bilingual Educators Initiative (RWT–BEI) is to recruit, prepare, and mentor bilingual high school students to become future bilingual teachers and counselors in the state of Washington. 

The mission of Recruiting Washington Teachers is to create a teaching workforce more reflective of Washington’s students, while diminishing the teacher shortage, and increasing educational opportunities for historically underserved students. RWT-BEI program pilot sites use the RWT curriculum, which emphasizes the importance of cultural identity and equity in the profession of teaching.
