CTE
at the WA-ACTE Summer Conference
The CTE department attended the WA-ACTE Summer
2017 Conference in Spokane on August 6-9. WA-ACTE's purpose is to provide
leadership, and services, to members as they prepare students for lifelong
career success. CTE enjoyed meeting and talking with CTE teachers and directors, from many schools in Washington, and look forward to a year of working together for success in our states career and technical education system.

through the iGrants system. Please see the form package profile page for information
related to these grant opportunities.
Perkins Changes
The 2017-2018 Perkins Application is now available, and has evolved from prior
format, including the addition of the 16-17 End of Activities reporting
requirement as a component of this year’s application. Districts will
find new pages within the application including the requirement of uploading
evidence of the annual program evaluation, submission of Perkins Performance
Improvement Plans, (when applicable) Advisory Committee required uploads, and
Perkins Reserve Special Projects pages as applicable. These application changes
reflect requirements consistent with the Carl D. Perkins Act and monitoring requirements of OSPI.
We anticipate questions regarding Perkins changes. Please call 360-725-6245, or email, with any questions or concerns.
Re-Approval Reset
This year will launch our new program re-approval
system, a streamlined approach to approval of CTE offerings. This year, all
active programs offered at a school district will be submitted and reviewed
during a one-year extended window of January 1-February 28. During this time,
districts will submit evidence of approval of all current courses by uploading
advisory minutes, and proof of extended leadership for all programs offered. The new cycle can be reviewed here.
During the Summer 2017 WA-ACTE conference, CTE gathered feedback from attendees regarding concerns, ideas, and areas for improvement. Feedback collected is shared below. CTE also asked for feedback to be given continually. We hope to use this survey mechanism as a way to gather feedback from you. Please also note an area, at the bottom of the feedback portion of this survey, which asks you to consider being part of an improvement committee. You can find, and complete, the survey here.
