Statewide Contracting Opportunity
The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) intends to conduct a competitive procurement to establish and award Contracts for Washington state agencies and other eligible purchasers to purchase common electrical supplies – e.g., wire, conduit, breakers, switches, and electrical trim items, including LED lighting fixtures, controls, and smart controls.
Through the Contracts established by this solicitation, over six hundred Washington state agencies, cities, towns, counties, colleges, schools, airports, and other eligible purchasers may purchase basic electrical supplies to keep their facilities heated, lighted, and running properly.

The 2023 Washington Regional Contracting Forum is a free, in-person event to connect small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses with public agencies that buy goods and services, including architecture and engineering services. Our goal is to connect Washington small businesses and those owned by women, veterans, and people in racial or socioeconomic minorities with public agency purchasers.

Norma Rodriguez joins us as a new Certification Analyst. She is originally from Wyoming, moved to Washington for college and has been here ever since. In May she will be graduating with her master’s degree in business administration. She has a bachelor’s degree in law and justice with an emphasis in legal studies, and an associate’s degree in sociology. Norma currently resides in Yakima, Washington where she enjoys reading, fishing, kayaking, and hiking with her family.

Governor Jay Inslee has announced he will not seek a 4th term in office.
Thank you, Governor Inslee, for your leadership and dedicated efforts to address systemic racism and eliminate racial disparities within state government and Washington communities, and for making equity in public spending a priority for the state.
Highlights of the Governor’s investment in this important work:
- Establishing the Governor’s Subcabinet on Business Diversity
- Establishing the Office of Equity, LGBTQ Commission, and Women’s Commission
- 2019 Statewide Disparity Study
- Supporting Access Equity and the Washington State Tools for Equity in Public Spending through Executive Order 22-01
- Signing RCW 39.19.250 requiring the Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) to annually report spending by state agencies and educational institutions with certified minority- and women-owned businesses
- Signing RCW 39.10.060 directing state agencies to center their 2021-2023 budgetary packages and legislation proposals around equity in compliance with public works and procurement goals to maximize opportunity for minority- and women-owned businesses
We look forward to making further progress over the next two years and working with the next administration to continue supporting small businesses and diverse spending in Washington State.
