Project Update - 33rd Avenue West Extension

The project will complete a new roadway through the proposed Lynnwood Place development (Costco). A new intersection will be constructed on 184th Street SW just east of the existing 33rd Avenue W intersection.  The new roadway will extend north from the new intersection to the existing intersection at Alderwood Mall Parkway and Maple Road.

Last week, we continued toward Alderwood Mall Parkway. The Soldier Pile Wall installation continued with the completion of 36 out of 40 piles. The electrical subcontractor continued with underground conduit for signal and illumination, working from the gas station entrance to 182nd, installing forms for pole bases. Some sidewalk preparation occurred, following the electrical work where available. Friday, December 12th, we installed the curb & gutter from the vicinity of the North Road up toward Alderwood Mall Parkway. Also, on this day the driller removed boulder obstructions in three of the last four remaining soldier piles. 

This week, we finished graded aggregate in preparation for asphalt paving which occurred on Tuesday December 16th from the vicinity of the North Road up toward Alderwood Mall Parkway. The Soldier Pile contractor completed the drilling on Monday December 15th and began to clean up and protect the slope. The electrical subcontractor continued with underground conduit for signal and illumination, working from 182nd (East/West entrance) to 184th on the East side of 33rd. Some more asphalt sidewalk preparation occurred as well.

Following this we are securing the site and bolster the erosion control in anticipation of the contractor taking Holiday Break from the close of business today, Friday, December 19th, resuming work on Monday, January 5th, with the exception that the electrical contractor will work Monday (12/22) and Tuesday (12/23) of next week and we will be installing fence panels to secure the site from 182nd (East/West Road) to the end of our pavement almost to Alderwood Mall Parkway.
