September 2025
Hello from Lynnwood City Hall!
Happy fall! I love how pretty our community is this time of year. The leaves are changing, and there’s a nice crispness in the air.
It’s also been a busy season of growth and excitement in our community. I recently had the honor and pleasure of welcoming the new Overlake MultiCare Emergency Center to Lynnwood. This much-needed facility will provide compassionate, high-quality immediate care to our community members.
We also recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Housing Hope’s newest development, Scriber Place. This collaborative project between Edmonds School District and Housing Hope will provide housing for 52 families and serve families and students in need. The vision of Scriber Place was made possible through the multiple partnerships we have within our community. This project serves as a model for making this work possible throughout our region and beyond.
Finally, I want to say that I love hearing your ideas about how we can continue to make Lynnwood a great place to live, work, and play. I encourage you to contact me and discuss how we can collaborate to make this city an even better place for everyone.
You can schedule an appointment by visiting us online at www.LynnwoodWA.gov/MayorFrizzell or by contacting my office at 425-670-5001.

Labor Day Proclamation Labor Day, observed annually on September 1st, honors the dedication and achievements of American workers who have built and sustained the nation’s strength and prosperity. The holiday traces its origins to the late 19th century, during a period of rapid industrialization and social change, when labor unions and advocates fought tirelessly for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and safer conditions for all laborers. First observed in 1882 and made a federal holiday in 1894, the name “Labor Day” underscores its purpose: to pay tribute to the workforce that empowers the nation’s progress while reminding us of the importance of protecting workers’ rights and ensuring opportunity for all.
Today, Labor Day continues to serve as both a celebration and a call to action. As the economy evolves with new industries, technologies, and challenges, this holiday reminds us of the need to uphold fair treatment, safe working conditions, and equitable pay for all workers.
The proclamation was read by Council Member Robert Leutwyler and was received by Ron Moore and Brittany Orlosky from the Police Guild, as well as Darlene Stokes and Darcy Kirschner from AFSCME

Wrapping Up Summer With Fair on 44th On September 6th, we hosted our largest City of Lynnwood event yet, the Fair on 44th! The street was filled with over 100 vendors, city departments, and more than 2,500 attendees who came together to celebrate our amazing community. Attendees enjoyed a full day of fun with food trucks, live entertainment, community resources, and interactive activities. The Fair on 44th allowed residents to connect with local agencies, explore health and wellness resources, and access services such as vaccine clinics provided by Kroger–QFC, as well as information from dental offices and insurance providers.
This year’s event featured a fantastic lineup of entertainment, including a K9 demonstration by the Lynnwood Police Department, Snohomish County PUD, dance performances, an activity fun zone hosted by Project Girl, soccer challenges with Soccer Shots Seattle, and lively performances by the Northwest Junior Pipe Band and so much more! All of our vendors offered hands-on, engaging activities that allowed attendees to learn more about their organizations and local businesses in a fun, interactive way.
The Fair on 44th continues to grow each year, and we are so grateful to our vendors, community partners, and dedicated city staff for helping bring this beloved event to life. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Human Services Update On September 25th, Human Services hosted Everett Gospel Mission, which provided their popular “Poverty 101” training for City staff and community partners. This training explores the root causes of poverty and encourages open discussion to debunk myths and identify ways we can support low-income neighbors.
Human Services is also excited to announce the renewal of its Hotel Voucher Program through June 2026, in partnership with Snohomish County, Volunteers of America, and LPD’s Community Health and Safety Section. This critical resource helps unhoused families stabilize in a local hotel while they receive direct services from VOAWW case management.

Park Operations & Maintenance Division With fall approaching, it's been a rush to complete our summer projects. Contractors completed the roof replacement at Meadowdale Playfields. This work included a new PVC roof and replacement skylights. The existing roof was 36 years old. The decommissioned zipline is scheduled to be replaced this fall, the new design will remove the launch pad and make room for a 45 foot long zip line in its place. SnoPUD will be working over the next 2 months to replace several transmission poles at Lynndale Park. This will require substantial trimming under the transmission lines for access. The wood poles are being replaced with metal poles and should last for years.
Park crews will be working to restore turf areas from the summer season. Many places around the parks have been damaged by excessive use and need a fall overseeding to prepare them for next season. Some of the heavily worn areas include the spray pools, athletic fields, and grass areas around Lynndale Park. Crews will be working over the next month to address issues on asphalt pathways that include potholes, upheaving roots, and other trip hazards. The work will be focused on Spruce and Meadowdale Park.
Police
Costume with a Cop A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Lynnwood Police Department's annual Costume with a Cop event on September 27th! Our Officers and staff had a fantastic time distributing over 180 costumes to families in need.
A special shoutout to our fantastic community partners: Family Peace Association, Alderwood Target, Alderwood JCPenney, and Alderwood Boys and Girls Club for making this event possible!
It was wonderful to see the connections formed between families and our police officers as the kids selected their costumes. Our mission is to foster relationships between officers and our young community members while providing tangible support to families.
Thank you for helping us make a difference! Check out these bonus trick-or-treating safety tips below!
- Stay in well-lit areas and bring a flashlight.
- Don't go out alone - use the buddy system or go out with an adult.
- Have your parents check your treats. Throw out open bags or wrappers.
- Wear costumes that let you see or hear to watch and listen for cars.
