May 2025
Hello from Lynnwood City Hall!
As the Mayor of our fantastic city, one of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the opportunity to connect with each of you. I value my time with community members, listening to your ideas, and discussing how we can enhance our city together.
Many of the best ideas come from you—those who live and work here every day. I want to foster open dialogue between us, whether at engaging community events or in the welcoming environment of City Hall. Your perspectives matter greatly to me, and I encourage you to share your thoughts, concerns, or suggestions.
Please connect with me so we can discuss how we can collaborate to make this city an even better place for everyone.
You can schedule an appointment by visiting us online at www.LynnwoodWA.gov/MayorFrizzell or by contacting my office at 425-670-5001.
Thank you all for being a part of our Lynnwood community. Be well, be kind, and I hope to see you at our summer events!
Mayor Christine Frizzell

Human Resources
Providing Local High School Students With Summer Internship Opportunities The City of Lynnwood Human Resources Department is excited to partner with the Edmonds School District to provide high school students with internship opportunities this summer. Ten students will intern with various City departments, such as Public Works, Development & Business Services, Information Technology, and Police, to learn more about public service functions and gain foundational skills and knowledge to develop their career focus. The Edmonds School District Foundation fully funds paid internships for these students. This is the City of Lynnwood’s second year participating in this partnership program, in which an Edmonds School District high school student is provided an internship for a department that aligns with the field they would like to pursue. In February 2025, the City’s Doug Raiford invited the Edmonds School District’s program manager to speak at our staff Lynnwood Employees Embracing Diversity (LEED) meeting. This helped increase departmental interest and triple student participation this year!

May was a record-breaking month for the golf course, with new highs achieved in green fee revenue, food and beverage sales, and cart rentals. It was rewarding to see the recent course improvements in person and to witness how these enhancements are contributing to increased customer satisfaction.
Honoring the Fallen at Memorial Day Event On Sunday, May 26, the City of Lynnwood, in partnership with VFW Post 1040, proudly honored our nation’s heroes during a heartfelt Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park.
The ceremony featured a moving program that included patriotic music, the laying of a commemorative wreath, and a solemn rifle salute performed by the VFW Post 1040 Honor Guard—a tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Attendees heard powerful remarks from VFW Past Post Commander and U.S. Navy Veteran John Beam, City of Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell, and U.S. Air Force Veteran Phillip Villa. Each speaker shared meaningful reflections on the significance of Memorial Day and the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by our service members. We extend our sincere thanks to VFW Post 1040 and all those who participated and attended. Together, we remembered, honored, and celebrated the courage and legacy of our fallen heroes.

Safety Drill at Wastewater Treatment Plant This month our Safety Officer ran a safety drill with our Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) staff and South County Fire (SCF). The training was a success and learning opportunity for both the WWTP crew and SCF crew. We staged a hazmat & person-down all-in-one scenario and we all found several areas for improvement. SCF was very impressed with our staff’s knowledge and ability to communicate the different complexities of the plant. We are pleased to share with our community the great efforts and relationship between our two organizations and how we are working together to keep our community safe.
