Gun fired inside mall, bystander hit
An altercation between two groups of teenagers resulted in one teenager pulling and firing a gun inside the mall. All parties fled on foot and were not apprehended at the scene. An uninvolved teenaged female was hit by the errant round and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injury.
The mall was locked down for safety and a search conducted. Information was developed indicating the male left the area. Based on security video provided by the mall, the suspect description is of a teenaged black male, with a large Afro hairstyle, wearing a white sweatshirt with black writing. The mall is no longer under lockdown and there is no ongoing threat there.
LPD detectives are actively working leads at this time.
