The City of Lynnwood, Project Girl Mentoring, and the Edmonds School District are hosting their second annual Juneteenth celebration on Wednesday, June 19th at Cedar Valley Community School, 19200 56th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Juneteenth is a national holiday marking the end of slavery in the United States, celebrated every year on June 19.
This year the celebration will include:
Health and Resource Fair The mini-health fair and resource tables will be inside the gym and focus on organizations that will be providing hands-on service to community members (screenings, mobility tests, vaccines, etc.)
Vendors and Food Trucks Vendors tables and food trucks will be located outside the gym with a priority, but not limited to, BIPOC resources and small businesses serving South Snohomish County.
Entertainment The entertainment line-up will include Around the Sound Community Matching Band, Daughters of Royalty, Vision Step Team from Meadowdale High School, a live DJ, face painters, and more.
Speakers This year’s event will be hosted by Dr. Margaret Towolawi, Physician owner of Nurture Well Center with an introduction by Latisha Williams, Cedar Valley’s School Counselor, Dr. Steve Woodard, Mountlake Terrace City Council will be giving a keynote, and will include guest speakers Mayor Frizzell, Judge Mary Anderson, and other elected officials.

This event is free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Community Transit, United Healthcare, Companis, Verdant Health Commission, and Sno-Isle Libraries.
