Meadowdale Playfields Gets An Inclusive Playground Upgrade
Officials held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the new playground with Meadowdale Elementary students.
LYNNWOOD, WA (June 14, 2023) - On Monday, June 12th, officials from the City of Lynnwood, City of Edmonds, Edmonds School District and Snohomish County gathered to celebrate the opening of a new playground at Meadowdale Playfields, located at 16700 66th Ave W in Lynnwood. Renovation of 1990-installed playground was universally designed to create a new, inclusive play space featuring a main play structure with ramps, an inclusive whirl, cognitive and sensory elements, and new bay of swing options. This playground is the first to join PlayCore's National Demonstration Site Network in Snohomish County. Being a National Demonstration Site allows users to provide information and data to demonstrate the community impact of this playground.
The Meadowdale Playfields athletic complex and park is a unique partnership first developed in 1985 by the Edmonds School District, City of Edmonds, City of Lynnwood, and Snohomish County. The property is owned by the School District and jointly managed and operated by the Cities for year-round use. The playground renovation funding was provided by the Cities of Edmonds and Lynnwood, Snohomish County's Small Capital Project Partnership Grant, and the Lynnwood Parks & Recreation Foundation. Playground design and installation provided by Great Western Recreation.
