Crews pave sidewalks at 196th St SW and 44th Ave W
Work in the median continues
As part of this project, crews are installing a planted median on 196th St SW. The purpose of the median is to improve safety on this busy thoroughfare by encouraging reduced speeds, increasing predictability for people driving, and serve as a pedestrian refuge at crosswalks.
The construction crews for this project are working with a team of experts including arborists, landscapers, and geotechnical engineers to build the planted median. Special considerations were made based on underground utilities, tree species, planting strip width, and resiliency to weather and climate. Through the remainder of the project, you can expect more plants, shrubs, and trees to be installed throughout the project corridor.
Please follow all pedestrian and traffic control as work progresses.
