Crews work on a new concrete median at 196th St SW between 40th Ave W and 44th Ave W
Road closures at 40th Ave W and 196th St SW
- 40th Ave W at 196th St SW will be fully closed to northbound and southbound traffic from Monday, January 9 at 8 a.m. through Tuesday, January 10 at 5 p.m. for traffic signal installation.
- North and Southbound traffic on 40th Ave W must detour to 44th Ave W
- East and Westbound through traffic on 196th St SW will be maintained, though turns will not be permitted at this intersection
- Please follow all pedestrian and traffic detour signage in the area and plan for delays.
Concrete work continues
As part of this project, crews will continue completing sidewalk, driveway, and street upgrades which includes pouring and curing concrete. All concrete work is weather dependent, and the schedule is subject to change if there is cold or wet weather in the forecast.
Access in and out of driveways will be maintained to the extent possible. If driveways need to be closed for upgrades, our team will notify individual properties in advance. We appreciate your patience as crews work toward completing this project.
We understand that the 196th St Improvement Project is impactful on the surrounding neighbors and traffic. Major roadway work for this project is expected to be finished in late 2023.
Our crews are working to complete upgrades as efficiently and effectively as possible. We will continue shifting travel lanes around work zones to allow us to maintain the safety of the crews and traveling public.

- Grading and placing sidewalk concrete
