You can recycle plastic jugs, glass jars, and aluminum cans, but did you know that they need to be clean? Here's a tip from one of our readers!

To clean jars, jugs, or cans (mayonnaise, jelly, salad dressing, tomato sauce, etc.), put some warm water in the jar, cap it, then shake vigorously for a few seconds. After dumping out the water, the jar or can should be reasonably clean. Repeat the process if it isn’t clean enough for recycling. Then let the jar drip dry before putting the cap back on and putting it in the recycling bin.
